"Surrey is defined by a community coming together - Strictly Come Surrey is the work of countless volunteer hours across so many teams and is a perfect example of what makes us so special."
Liam White, Students' Union President
For the first time since 2019, Strictly Come Surrey returned to University Hall for a night of glamour, live music and fantastic dancing!
Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Stage Crew and StagTV, the room was transformed into our very own Blackpool, complete with live music from University of Surrey's Big Band.
Hosted by Students' Union President, Liam White and GSA student, Cara, Strictly Come Surrey was a night to remember! You can watch the full live event here.
Now to announce the winners...

James Warren and Chloe Boniface

Chloe and James won the hearts of the judges and audience with their beautiful Vienese Waltz to Dorothy More's Misty Blue.
Reflecting on the experience, Chloe said "Strictly has been the most amazing experience for me, getting to pass on my knowledge and love of ballroom to James who is so keen to learn and has a passion for all things dance and music related! I couldn't be more proud of James, for all of his hard work and of course the win. Every single person (celebs and pros) poured their whole heart into this show and being able to work alongside such talented people from BLDC, Stage Crew and Big band made it even more special. I can't wait for next year!"

2025 Strictly Come Surrey couples

Dancing the Rumba, Ioanna Pavlopoulou and Jiyeon Choi

Dancing the Paso, Dr Belen Marti-Cardona and Harrison Paget

Dancing the Quickstep, Ravi Kant and Lucy Payne
Ravi is the current Surrey Students' Union VP Activity and has studied their Master's in Business Analytics here. They are being cheered along by their close friends.
Lucy graduated from Surrey in 2022 with a Law degree and is currently working as a paralegal, specialising in property law. They enjoy dancing and teaching, so Strictly Come Surrey is the best way to combine the two! Having danced for most of their life, Lucy has always enjoyed dancing in shows. Outside of dancing, Lucy likes to repair second-hand dresses.

Dancing the Cha, Sheeba Pathak and Corinna Joerg
Sheeba is a Management and Business PhD student here at Surrey. Living with flat feet, Sheeba often finds standing up for long periods of time painful. They want to challenge themselves, and what better way to do that than with Strictly Come Surrey!
Corina has been an active member of University of Surrey Ballroom & Latin Dance Club, and has been involved with Strictly Come Surrey since 2018! Now they are working in the University's Advancement Team after graduating from Surrey in Sport and Exercise Science.

Dancing the Waltz, Chris Steer and Emma Slade
Chris works at the University as a Senior Disability Advisor within the Disability and Neurodiversity Team. Over the past several years, Chris has had a difficult time with their mental health; however, things have been picking up over the last year, and Chris wants to celebrate this recovery and aid their mental health going forward.
Emma graduated from Surrey in 2022 with a Maths degree. This is Emma’s 6th year of Strictly Come Surrey! Now, Emma is working in insurance but is continuing to dance competitively.
One last surprise...
Just when the audience thought the show was over, Liam proposed to his partner Jade - thankfully she said yes!
"I was standing on the dancefloor, working with Stage Crew to rehearse my presenting and programme my spotlight. It was there that I realised that the room was going to be full my BLDC family, colleagues, and friends who have been with me through it all. So I ran to the nearest Beryl bike, sped all the way home, picked up a certain something, and headed straight for the TV Studio managing the show’s broadcasting. There, I enlisted the help of Carl Moller and Katie Martin to spring a surprise on the crowd after the broadcast ended, but the cameras kept rolling. I will forever be grateful for everyone involved in Strictly for allowing me one final gift – a gift no one else will get to give, and one for which I will forever be grateful.
The rest, I think, is history. Particularly for myself and my now fiancée!"
