A decade of Strictly Come Surrey
This year marked the 10-year anniversary of Strictly Come Surrey, and following many claims that it would be bigger and bolder this year, it did not disappoint!
Thank you to all who were involved across our seven student societies and university courses, including: The Ballroom and Latin Dance Club, Big Band, Surrey Dance Squad, Stage Crew, and StagTV, as well as the Tonmeister, Film Production and Broadcast Engineering Degree students.
An additional thank you to Littleredhat Photography and Photosoc who captured the evening's events.
Hosted by Guildford School of Acting students Mya Ruiséil and Aileen Wilson in front of a live studio audience of 200, plus over 3,000 streams on YouTube, this year’s Strictly Come Surrey was another night to remember! You can watch the full live event here.
And now to reveal the winners...
Fergus Ashcroft and
Sophia Mitchell-Jones
Our winners this year were Fergus Ashcroft and Sophia Mitchell-Jones, who danced the Waltz to Adele’s ‘When We Were Young’.
Pre-show, Fergus Ashcroft was enthusiastic about the upcoming performance, commenting: “I’m up to try anything once and this seemed like good craic...my girlfriend may have found out about it and said I should do it”.
Thanks to their top score from our expert judges and a strong vote from the audience, they were crowned Strictly Come Surrey 2026 winners.
Sophia is a Modern Languages student at Surrey who has been dancing for most of her life. Fergus, a Veterinary Biosciences student and rugby player, had never danced before but was inspired to take part after seeing Strictly Come Dancing Live late last year.

The final curtain call
It was not plain sailing for all our dancers this year, with one of our celebs, Craig Aldridge, unable to compete due to injury. Craig had been partnered with Elena Clifford-Baynes, and it was a shame that the pair could no longer showcase all their hard work.
In addition, we had a pro swap as Chloe Boniface also succumbed to injury, leaving Corinna Jörg to lead Elle Wright on the Strictly dancefloor.
Despite these incidences in the lead up to the night, it was another successful year for Strictly Come Surrey, a huge well done to the team of 100 students who made it happen! And remember, keep dancing!
